Launching integration with the semantic web and Twitter!

As you might know, we launched our first beta version of faveeo.com earlier this week, having now our first users that are testing our recommendation engine, and the test of the features as well! Today I would like to introduce in more details our integration with the semantic web, and with Twitter as well, as they are two really hot features of faveeo.com!

First of all, all content that comes into faveeo.com (15k articles per day at the moment) is automatically tagged by using the Open Calais web service, (www.opencalais.com) that itself is directly connected to the semantic web. This means that all the incoming content is properly organized and tagged for several topics including People, Organizations, Countries, Music Bands, Sports teams, etc.

This really advanced categorization not only helps users find information related to their tastes and interests but also allows us to provide high quality recommendations based on the tags applied to the nodes you read, click on and of course, vote on.

The other pretty cool integration that we are launching today is our integration with Twitter, and especially it's integration into our semantic system!

Our Twitter integration at the moment will pull our the latest tweets for any given tag, directly querying the Twitter site when a user browses on a category page. Using the power of the semantic web, plus the flexibility of "faceted browsing" users can easily filter content by multiple related tags and get this filtering applied to the tweets as well, as you can see in this short video about out semantic web and twitter integration!
